On March 9th, 2025, Dr. Mary Amuyunzu-Nyamongo marked her 60th birthday in style. She ran 60KM! She invites us all to join her in this journey—one that goes beyond just running but speaks to health, resilience, and community.

Dr. Nyamongo’s work and experience with her kin opened her eyes to the silent battles many face -aging, mental health, menopause, arthritis, and the financial struggles that limit access to quality healthcare. She reminds us that Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) are not just for the wealthy or those with poor eating habits—they can affect anyone.

Many young people are now caregivers for aging parents while trying to make ends meet. Women, especially mothers, bear the heaviest burden. “Your health declines and financial constraints make access to quality care difficult,” she says.

But there is hope. Dr. Nyamongo emphasizes the power of community support, women’s groups, and strong networks—places where people can find emotional and financial help. “When you are with people who listen, you find strength.”

She also highlights the rising cases of arthritis and mental health challenges, urging us to prepare rather than live in fear. Health education and community engagement are key.

👉🏾 Let’s join Dr. Nyamongo in championing the message of health, wellness, and community support.
