Terms of Reference for A Consultant to Provide External Audit Services
About AIHD
The African Institute for Health and Development (AIHD) is a non‐profit, Non‐Governmental Organization (NGO) established in June 2004 in Nairobi, Kenya by a group of accomplished African researchers and academicians. It was registered by the National Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO) Coordination Board as an NGO in June 2004. The Institute’s focus is on implementing evidence-based programs and conducting research, training, programming and advocacy on health and development issues that are contextually relevant to Kenya and other African countries. The organization partners with the National and County Governments in Kenya and works collaboratively with local, national, regional, and international partners. The AIHD is involved in addressing key development issues including Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs), Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs), mental health and injuries, poverty alleviation, gender mainstreaming, and health promotion, among others. Currently, the Institute is collaborating with the Ministry of Health (MoH) with funding from the END Fund, Unlimit Health, African Research Network for NTDs (ARNTD), European, Developing Countries Clinical Trials Partnerships (EDCTP), and Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF), to implement projects and programs on the control and elimination of NTDs. Apart from NTDs, the AIHD is undertaking advocacy on NCDs and implementing health promotion programs in the acceptability of routine immunization and the COVID-19 pandemic.
To this end, the Institute has implemented programs in several African countries including but not limited to, Kenya, Ghana, Uganda, Ethiopia, Tanzania, and Zambia. In pursuit of its vision of “An Africa where people live in dignity” and mission of “Working with communities for better lives through evidence‐based programming” the AIHD is involved in building the capacity of community groups; facilitating resourcing from within; and in-building sustainable mechanisms in all its program activities.
Job Summary
The AIHD is seeking to recruit an external auditor to provide an independent professional opinion on the financial statements, which includes an opinion on the eligibility of expenditure and compliance with the relevant legal agreements, organization policies and procedures.
Required skills and qualifications
- The auditor should have at least 10 years in audit;
- He/she should demonstrate experience in auditing Not-for -Profit Organizations and project audit; and
- The auditor (s) must be full-time audit practitioners and in good standing with Institute for Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK).
Job Requirements
Interested Certified Accountant Firms should submit a Technical and Financial proposal indicating their interest and providing the following information and documents:
- Company profile.
- Detailed relevant experience.
- Include resumes of partners and Key staff.
- Provide at least two references from clients audited in the last three years.
