The Institute collaborated with the Ministry of Health of (Kenya and Tanzania) and Kilimanjaro Centre for Community Ophthalmology (KCCO) in conducting an ethnography study on Factors Associated with Low and Inequitable Coverage and Compliance in Trachoma Endemic areas in Tanzania and Kenya with nomadic Populations. This study aimed to explore reasons why Mass Drug Administration (MDA) campaigns of Zithromax for the elimination of trachoma don’t reach all eligible population groups equally in parts of Kenya (Narok and Kajiado) and Tanzania (Kiteto and Longido). The study developed evidence based on preferred practices for improving the design and implementation of MDA campaigns in areas with a high proportion of nomadic populations.
